Story Tellers Tent (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY)
Here you will find throughout the day stories, music and informative presentations of interest to all. If you are curious about what life was like during the late 1800s or how the Civil War affected peoples’ lives, be sure to stop by—presentations will change about every 20 minutes. Located just past the entry gate in the Campground.
Civil War Fashion Show (SATURDAY)
Experience the fashion fads and fancies of the 1860s. Styles from all social classes of mid-Victorian society will be re-created. Learn how the roles that women played were reflected in the clothing they wore.
Grand Entrance Parade (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY)
Cheer the entrance of President and Mrs. Lincoln, marching troops, and music as the Lincolns make their way from the park entrance, through the camps, to the main shelter where the President will address the crowd.
Bob Welch (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY)
The multi-talented Bob Welch performs songs of the Civil War period, singing and accompanying himself on guitar, banjo and mandolin. Bob combines storytelling and history with humor that all ages will enjoy. It’s truly an enjoyable and memorable experience. Bob Welch is nationally recognized for his music and showmanship. Bob will have CDs of his music for sale.
Walnut Prairie Woodworking - (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY)
Watch the talented Brett Hall as he demonstrates how woodworking was done in the 1800′s. Brett has a very authentic collection of time period woodworking tools that still in excellent working order. Watch a demonstration of how these tools were used by these craftsmen and listen to a few of the Civil War Stories that Brett will share.
Songs of the Civil War (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY)
The multi-talented Bob Welch performs songs of the Civil War period, singing and accompanying himself on guitar, banjo and mandolin. Bob combines storytelling and history with the music for a truly enjoyable experience.
Battle Demonstrations (SATURDAY AND SUNDAY)
Union and Confederate troops meet on the field of battle as Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery. They will demonstrate tactical drills and battle formations of the period. Bleacher seating is available.
Period Dance and Night Cannon Firing (SATURDAY)
Watch a special cannon fireworks show, listen to the Old Man River Band, and watch the costume ball. Public is invited to join in. Period dress is not required.
Church Service (SUNDAY)
A beautiful and inspiring nondenominational service that honors all soldiers and veterans.
